I am a dietitian by trade and, as such, have a passion for healthy eating.

I lived in the damp and gloomy UK for 10 years before I woke up and realised that home had been calling for a very long time.

I grew veggies religiously every year that I was in London.  Pots crowded every available space.  I grew herbs vertically and horizontally and in amongst each other.  Tomatoes climbed up every wall I could find and chillies took pride of place on every windowsill that could hold them.  Some years were sunny enough to allow my precious plants to flourish and for me to be given the gift of a beautiful harvest. But many years were not so kind and I would have to buy South Africa avocados, Spanish tomatoes and Jamaican bananas from my local shop.

And so I returned to a country that is blessed with almost 11 months of sunshine a year.  To properties that are bigger than a matchbox and where there is fertile, available land.

When I saw the price of fresh healthy foods in South Africa, however, I was astounded.  I cringed every time I had to buy a lettuce from the shops, thinking how obvious it would be for me to set aside an area to grow my own.  And so I did.

I have been hooked ever since and cannot wait to harvest my supper carrots as the sun is setting and my family is returning home from work.  To feel the tug as each sweet little finger comes away from the same place that I planted a tiny seed.  To marvel at the transformation that a little TLC and a few months has produced and to taste what a real carrot tastes like, with that faintest earthy aftertaste that reminds you of where it was just moments before.

It is my mission to bring this joy to your home.  As a dietitian, it’s not only about the pride in what I’ve grown, it’s about health.  It’s about that ever increasing need for vitality and longevity.  It’s about realising your self-worth, and ensuring you give you and the people you love the very best you can.
